Hey all, brief history of my stuttering problems: started when I was young, parents ignored it, went to a speech therapy class in high school and it helped a bit. I learned some techniques (breathing, relax, etc). By the end of high school it seemed to have mostly gone away. It usually manifested in the form of blocks or pauses which are incredibly frustrating. It pops up from time to time but it had mostly gone away. The past 2-3 weeks it has come back with a vengeance though and I have no idea why. I spent a week in Wyoming on vacation and I got back this past weekend and it seems to really be an issue all of a sudden. People and situations that didn't instigate things are now causing blocks in my ability to speak.

I haven't been sleeping well which is probably a factor but I tend to only get 6-7 hours of sleep at most anyway so this isn't really a new change.

I'm thinking of going to the doctor because this is strange. The problem was mostly cleared up and now it is back. Some of my old tricks aren't working as well either such as speaking with a full breathe of air in my lungs or relaxing my jaw for a moment.

Any thoughts/recommendations? Has this happened to anyone else?

I dont know what a doctor is going to do for you,,,unless you have some medication in mind that you think will help.

Doctors know no more about stuttering than they do about rocket science.

That must feel terrible to have a relapse of your original stuttering. This is normal because stuttering never stays the same. It comes and goes. Becomes better and worse. You just have to learn to deal with it. You can do that by practicing your speech rules everyday for at least 15 minutes. Some of them are deep breath, easy onset and a pull-out. Over time they will give you control over your stuttering. Trust me. Good luck!
