question. Do you think your two girls inherited it from you? My dad stutters and out of my 3 brothers I was the only one to inherit it :(

I would say yes, they got it from me and my mother side of the family. One of my 4 brothers out grew his and 1 out of my three sisters out grew hers. I have two first cousins that stutter and there father use too, but I guess he pretty close to being fluent. No one on my father side does.

Hey welcome to the forum,
my uncle has a stammer, as do i. I think a stutter isn't inherited as such, but it seems to be that it can run through a family line pretty often.

Perad,
In your post you said "a stutter isn't inherited as such". Do you know this for a fact? I assume not, and until more research is carried out into stuttering, we won't know what the real reasons are for the condition.
Regards,
Riverman.

I just did a google search for "is stuttering inherited".
Stuttering can be inherited, and 50% to 70% of all stutterers are related to another stutterer.
So take from that what you will.

I think there is a connection, because a few of my siblings had their kids stutter, but they outgrew it and hopefully doesn't come back. So, really I'm the only one that didn't out grow his and along with two of my first cousins.
