Well i think that it must have taken a lot of courage itself to actually make the call....
What i usually do is to start with a word like 'um' and then try saying what you gotta say. they can't exactly hang up on you...
Even when i get to the word 'delivery' i try and say 'take out' instead...but thats not a delivery is it.
Keep trying, you can do it!

Do what I do when ordering out--- text your order or see if you can order on-line. I always order on-line for pizza hut.
Don't think of it as avoidance. Think of it as making a situation easier.

Dear happy7117, Please combine your advice with what Layla did. First call the restaurant. If you could not say anything then hang up and order online.
Stuttering indeed can be cured if it consistently makes you fail to speak. The reason stuttering continues is because it succeeds more often than it fails. Do not start speaking with an 'um' as it will help you to say the world you want to say after it. Anything that helps you to break through stuttering resistance will make your stuttering more sever later. Try not to try, only speak with ease and any stutterer can speak with ease from time to time. Say only the words that come out without effort, text message those words that you fail to say them with ease. I repeat. First try to say them with ease and only after you fail and only after you feel the failure use other means.
Happy, sorry for the tone of my message. My intention is not to sound authority, just being brief.

Could you really not speak, or just not speak without stuttering?
I used to have lots of silent blocks, and I thought I really couldn't make a sound. I then realized that I was only silently blocking because I was afraid of making a "weird" stuttering sound. Part of me wanted to say the word fluently, and part of me wanted to avoid making some disfluent "retarded" sound, and this conflict causes a silent block. I found that if I don't mind making a weird stuttering sound though, I can always start making the first sound of the word.

While I am capable of speaking fluently now, I noticed than any blockage is caused by tension in the muscle tissue around your throat, or anywhere else in your body. Any sort of tension will make you unrelaxed and generally make strangled or other noises that can be perceived by others as "retarded"
Try a few relaxation methods, for a while then talk to as many people as you can. Whether it would be on the street, talk about anything, the weather, anything that you can think of.
Verbal interaction because so natural that you don't even worry about it anymore.
