I just wanted to know if anybody else had this problem.

I'm not a sever stutterer, but I have those long, silent blocks that can go on for over a minute, and sometimes a couple minutes. I stammer also. I definitely have my moments several times a day and my social life is a bit hampered as a result. But anyways, back to the problem.

My and my brother (5 years older than me) both stutter. It is pretty hard for my father to keep a straight face when either of us stutter, and the same applies to a friend or two.

A few years back, I went to group stuttering sessions and I had a lot of trouble keeping myself from breaking out in laughter when others stuttered. It got to the point where I couldn't even look another stutterer in the eyes when they spoke. After about the second or third session, I made it known to others in the group sessions to not take it personally if I laughed, but of course, they did, which is understandable. Sad to say, it was quite torturous trying to hold back the laughter that was just waiting to explode.

I have this problem with my older brother too, and he sometimes laughs as well. I also have this problem when I come in contact with a random stutterer, whether it's at work or at the store... It's just really damn hard to keep a straight face.

I've thought about it often, and the only reason I can come to is that when I was growing up as a child, my father would watch Howard Stern and laugh uncontrollably when Stuttering John or John the Stutterer would get ridiculed. I also found it amusing, even though I was/am a stutterer.

Does anybody have this problem
