hi every1 think this is a great idea and hopefully this is the start to the end of my pain of that horrible word which has haunted me my whole life. hate that word stutter  why dont they change it to something nice like flower :D i can say that!

i developed a stutter very young, so young i cant remember my first memory ( probably my first word! ). i was bullied quite heavily all through school as are most stutterers i guess. my low self a steem and tendency too bottle up my emotions led me to develop a stomach ulcer aged 11. i'm now 21 and finally had enough of running, theres only so far you can run! so its time to deal with it and hopefully conquer it - and maybe help others along the way. im an open book on stuttering and willing to here what anyone has to say on it.

ulcers arent caused by bottled up emotions. it's caused by a type of bacteria. :)

Welcome, funning how are stories are very similiar. I didn't know I stuttered, until a teacher embarrassed me right in front of my class mates. I heard that word for the first time and every since then, well you know the rest of the story. Glad to hear you are, you had enough and are going to do something about it. See you out in the forum.

well vermillion i was told by a doctor that bottled up emotion and stress can cause a a stomach ulcer. because ulcers are found usually in adults who drink or smoke this couldn't have caused mine as i did not drink or smoke at 11.

also i am willing to hear your theories as long as they can be backed by evidence.

Causes:

A stomach ulcer is the result of hyperacidity, which is caused by an increased in the hydrochloric acid in the stomach. This strong acid, secreted by the cells lining of the stomach, erodes the inner lining of the stomach. Dietetic indiscretion such as overeating, taking of heavy meals or highly spiced foods, coffee, alcohol and smoking are the main factors contributing to this condition. Other causes are the ingestion of certain drugs, food poisoning, certain infections, gout, "emotional disturbances", "stress", and "nervous tension".

what i should have said was stress and emotional disturbances contributed to my stomach ulcer. ( glad we got that one solved )
