You guys might not know this (most people, even stutterers, seem to be unaware when I tell them), but Joe Biden stutters. It definitely came as a surprise to me when I found out a couple of months ago. Obviously, he's become much more fluent in his adult years, but as a child and teenager it was more severe.

With all the authority that comes from being at the second highest position of power in the United States, and with everything he's had to go through with stuttering, you would think Biden would devote some of his efforts to spreading the word about stuttering. Indeed, from skimming some YouTube videos, I discovered that he's presented at a few conferences, and has briefly talked about his affliction on "The View." (Psh.) These videos, while displaying Biden's stuttering problem, have, at best, a few thousand views, which is disappointing.

Couldn't Biden devote at least a little more time to spreading the message about stuttering? There's so much opportunity here for enlightenment, for educating the public. It wouldn't even take that much time or effort on Biden's end, and he'd be helping millions of people!

I guess what I'm saying is that I'm a little irked at Biden's reticence toward stuttering. Sure, he's done a little bit. He's done the minimal amount so that he can say he's done something--and that's educating a few thousand people or so. But I definitely think more needs to happen. I think that we need more of a voice; people who stutter should write Biden and explain to him that he needs to be more vocal about the condition.

Any volunteers? xD
