im in my last year of college and have been making a project all year. at the end of the year we all had stand to present our project to the rest of the class via a powerpoint and demonstration.

i do believe if i had asked my tutor in private that i could have got out of doing it. but i didnt as i wanted to feel normal and i even volenteered to be one of the first to do it even though i was.

although i was very nervous and stuttered a fair bit during the presentation i got through it alot quicker than i thought i would and i like to think of it as a success as i chose to do it and god did i feel better after from the relief of it being over as it was always in my mind for the weeks leading up and i felt better with my speech for doing it and felt really happy and confident after doing it.

i obviously wouldnt want to do another soon but i wouldnt say no.

First, congrats!!!!

You said you wanted to feel normal? YOu ARE NORMAL!! You are not your stuttering. That's a behavior and doesn't define YOU. I can't hit a 3-iron(a behavior); does that make me NOT NORMAL? God, I hope not.

In my college days, I didn't confront public speaking situations. I dodged them and I regret that so much. In fact, I hate myself more for dodging those situations than stuttering itself.

Remember, there is no "out there". everything exists inside of you. Its never anything external being the problem, its YOU. Once you accept this and take responsibility for every aspect of your being, your life will dramatically change.

That is amazing! You chose the trying, more difficult option and you were successful. --Successful, meaning you got the job done, not how severe or mild your speech was.--Keep on doing this and you got it! BRAVO!
