ok before i start excuse my bad english.
it just came into my mind, trust me this is not bull-sh*t
why boys suffer from stuttering more than girls, 75% of the people who stutter are boys, right??
why is that??
if you have studied biology in school, you should know that genes have two kinds:
1- regular genes: RR Rr rr
2- genes carried on the X chromosome

now, what i think that suttering has a gene that is carried on the X chromosome.

as we all know, boys have XY genes, and girls have XX genes,

in boys you only need one stuttering gene to have the effect of that gene, but girls should have 2 genes of the same type to have the effect of that gene, so, if one of your parents " carries " the gene that cause stuttering and you are a boy, you're more likely to be stuttering, and if you are a girl, you need to have both parents carrying that gene and both effected X gene should combine to be a stuttering girl, so if you do the math, males have 75% of carrying that gene, and girls have 25% of carrying the same gene, if they have the same parents.
to understand more of what i'm talking about read this quote from wikipedia
X-linked recessive
Main article: X-linked recessive

X-linked recessive conditions are also caused by mutations in genes on the X chromosome. Males are more frequently affected than females, and the chance of passing on the disorder differs between men and women. The sons of a man with an X-linked recessive disorder will not be affected, and his daughters will carry one copy of the mutated gene. A woman who is a carrier of an X-linked recessive disorder (XRXr) has a 50% chance of having sons who are affected and a 50% chance of having daughters who carry one copy of the mutated gene and are therefore carriers. X-linked recessive conditions include the serious diseases Hemophilia A, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and Lesch-Nyhan syndrome as well as common and less serious conditions such as male pattern baldness and red-green color blindness.

now you understand more about this, you should now know that if you are boys you should blame your mother for being a stutterer { cause you have carried your father's Y gene } and if you are a girl, blame both of your parents!! haha JK, they couldn't have possibily have known that you would carry this disorder.

so what do you think??
i could have been horribly wrong about this, just wanted to share with you guys, cause i have studied this in school about a month ago and have kept thinking that that's the case about stuttering!!

*sorry again for bad english!! :D

I've actually been thinking about this as well lately. Now I know I'm not the only one :p. It could very well be the reason for the fact that there are more male stutterers than female. Thanks for sharing it, I think I will search for more information about this.
