Hi all, I am lee from cardiff... Im glad ive found this site as i have had a stammer since i can remember. I am 25 and have thankful managed to fulfil most of my goals by going to university and studying a architecture degree... This was very differcult (because its damn hard) but also because it involves a lot of presentations infront of both students and professionals. I hope to meet people on here who can share their experienses about stammering...
Basically i have tried it all, from speech theropy to Hypnotism and i have a conclusion... if you are not happy, youre stammer will not get any better... i feel confidence is alot to do with it.
Anyways, hello all!

Hi Lee,
Welcome to the site.
I agree with you about being happy about yourself and good to hear a success story where you havent let your stutter stop you in your goals.
I dont let my stutter stop me from doing things and my job in IT involves going to user meetings in France and going to customers sites to give presentations on our systems.
Good to have you on board.

hi nick! thanks for that, its great to hear that others are getting on with their lives too... ive read through a lot of posts on this forum and im amazed at how many people are simply getting on with things and not letting their stammer hold them back. I feel that i am growing out of it more and more now (but i actually think that instead of growing out of it, i am becoming more confident and more unaware of it), I hope children dont think what i thought when i was younger. i believed it would haunt me forever, and definatly hold me back in life. Instead its made me learn to live with it and deal with it.
All the best and i hope to use this forum alot now ive found it.

Hey Lee,
I've just arrived on this forum mainly as you don't ever meet other stammerers. We're a rare breed I guess. I'm 31 and have been stmring most my life. I totally agree with you on what you say.
I notice it very much on days where I'm feeling a bit low and have bad days. What I notice most is how much it knocks me back when I do get caught on a word, and have a bad stammer. But also the opposite, of when i'm speaking in front of people and making phone call, when i'm as fluent as the next person, it builds my confidence no end. The trick is to keep building up and up and never look back...
God how profound. Anyway, i'll be around here quite a bit, so will catch u soon.
