stuttering in your sleep

Does it ever happen to anyone?

I mean more like whilst you're dreaming and you're talking to someone in your dream, do u stutter?

Cos i do, and that REALLY annoys me!

Its my dream, i should atleast be able to talk fluently in my own dream grr.

I guess ive just got the fact that i stutter into my head so much that regardless of whether i might or might not stutter, i'll definitely stutter..if that makes sense :confused:

No, sorry doesnt happen to me, when I talk or shout in my sleep according to my wife I dont stutter.

maybe you are right and as you say your sub concious telling you that you stutter and when you talk in your sleep you stutter. I am no expert and I am sure others in this forum will know better than I do.

I don't either. The wife says I talk in my sleep and I wonder why she keeps an note pad under her pillow.

On a serious note, when I was younger I did have an recurring dream. I was trapped in our old house and it was haunted. I was really scared, running from room to room and even trying to hide in the bat. I can hear all kinds of noises and felt like something wants to grab me. I'm not a dream expert, but I think it is an symbolic dream. I was going through a time that I was so terrified that I didn't want other people to find out that I stutter. I was so entrenched in my shell, thinking there is no hope, no way of out.

Maybe I should have been in therapy at that time. Deep down I know we are all very optimistic, because we know there are better times ahead of us. Other people have their own problems that holds them back. Well, that is how my stutter affected me back when I was younger and I am sure many of you have smiliar stories to tell.

Thats quite a deep dream isnt it, I used to sleepwalk and would end up in bedroom cupboards and in the bath or would fight the wall. I was and still am to an extend never able to switch off from things when I go to bed and my mind still thinks about something I have done or what someone said to p*ss me off.
I have never tried to hide my stutter or be terrified about people finding out that I did stutter and I know that everybody handles their stutter in a different way and their is no wrong or right way.
I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve and am quite open about my stuttering and open about myself
My stutter annoyed me more than embarrassing me when I knew what I wanted to say but couldnt get the damn words out, dont get me wrong I still get annoyed with myself about my stutter but as I get older it is becoming less and less.

What do you mean by your nearly mute when you stutter??

I know what mute means-- it means a person who never ever talks....

So how can stuttering make one nearly mute??

As in mute I ment unable to speak, which is another definition. I would block terribly (blocking is mainly what I do in regular speech).

Or a person could also say that they stutter so bad which I do too, that they are VIRTUALY mute...

Virtualy Mute could mean one is not actualy mute, but one stutters so badly that they feel mute or the
horrible stutter makes them feel mute!!!

Of course a mute could also mean one who does not
stutter, but simply cannot speak from maybe a horrible trauma or accident...

Thank you for clarification--but for my stutter though-
it has caused me to run and hide at times!!

sorry lupes it doesnt happen for me, but sometimes i stutter when i talk to myself whether it was with sound or no, and that makes me really angry ;..;
