hey this is me Igby is not my real name but im sure like most stutterers i'm farely guarded with who i am towards other people until i have spent time to get to know them. I have stuttered all my life now at my mid 20's faced similar frustrations and embaressment as most others and have shown fleeting determination to handle the problem having two stints of speech theraphy at different times of my life.
I will say this one thing about this forum it gives people like myself the opportuntity to express themselves and say everything they want to say without hinderence of speech, judgement of others aswell as understanding from people who can relate.

Hey Igby,

Welcome to the forum, hope it helps you realise that you arent alone with your stutter and you can express your feelings on here.

Take it easy and try and keep smiling.

Igby,

Have to agree with AGOFCR and I have never been guarded and I have been open about my stutter and my impression is that people havent thought less of me because of it. But hey everyone is different and handles it in a different way, as long as you are happy you keep on doing it.
One final point, if people think less of you because of your stutter then its them with the problem and they arent worth worrying about.

the statement i made about being guarded as a person was more so the nature of my personality not so much trying to hide the fact that i have a stutter. All i mean was that i wont just tell everything about myself to anybody like some people will..if someone wants to get to really know me it takes a bit of work and time.

Sorry, misunderstanding on my part there.

I am the opposite and wear my heart on my sleeve, very open and sometimes too honest to people I have just met. But thats my personality and part of that is talking non stop and if I stutter so what, I always get my point across.

We look forward to your opinions and experiences you have been through.
