CBS Had a nice piece on Stuttering. It can also be viewed on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaSZbcf9tX4
It is on the "Our TIme" workshop in NYC. These kids have a lot of courage to get on national TV and speak. I had very similair problems to the first girl that speaks at her age( I am male) but was able to over come it for the large part of High School, College and shortly after.
I have had a couple relapses since entering the professional world, including quitting my first job and contemplating suicide. Accepting I will never be fully ride of "stuttering" and openly talking about it with friends and family has helped get me back to a good place where I can get through conversations although i still struggle in 3 of 5 business meetings I now have a boss that understands.
Just thought I would share this, In the past I would turn the channel on things like this and the movie"The Kinds Speech" now i am embracing watching and the emotion that comes with it.
I have never met another admitted stutter and most of my understanding comes from boards this and other research. I am glad this is becoming more of a main street issue and I would like to get involved in helping the "cause" if/ when i have the means and time.
I am 27 and 22 to 25 were more darkest days, seeing this problem out in the open is a good thing in my eyes.
