Effexor and Inderal-- I am currently taking them
for anxiety and depression--but am also wondering if they could be skyrocketing my stuttering....

Has anyone taken Inderal or Effexor, or Both at the same time like I am now....

I wish I knew if this is increasing my stuttering..

I wish there were doctors on this forum who could give me an honest and upfront answer as to if
Inderal and Effexor is killing my stutter!!!

Who knows!!! I may be stuttering tremendously
more on these than before I started on them,
and not even know it because I don't know the
facts about these drugs!!!!

I have never taken any meds for my stuttering. Maybe I should :p

I haven't ever came out before and told anybody I stutter. I'm going to my Neuroligist, Thursday for a follow up for my Tension Headaches. I guess I 'll tell him I stutter. Well see what he says.

About a month ago my Nueroligist gave me Topamax for my headaches and I noticed that my stuttering got really bad. I stopped taking it and it has slowed down. I might stubbel for a for a sec, but with Topamax, I was getting stuck on words for 5 to 10 secs trying to get it out.

The Inderal and Effexor may be making me stutter more than ever, and if I am not allowed to stop
taking it, I will never find out if it makes me stutter
worse!!

I'm would think they could slowly get you off the med. Hopefully there is an alternative medication.

Best thing to do is tell your doctor, that taking this medication is making you stuttering more than normal.

Maybe you have just been in different situations then normal and your stutter has picked up because of it?

I know if I get aggressive and try to talk to people or get excited and want to tell a story, my stuttering gets out of control. I just stop and say never mind. They look at me strange but o well, there loss. I had a good story.

I take Indural to control my stutter. It slows your heart rate nad makes you calmer.

I have tried both these medications.INDERAL did not help or hinder my stuttering, but that is just me.EFFEXOR is an snri which increases noradrenaline and is a treatment for social anxiety and depression, this did not help me either.HERE IS A TIP, if you notice my sentences are very long with few full stops, or pauses for breaths. Try to speak in shorter sentences and take breathes more often. This relieves fatigue and stress on your vocal chords making speech easier, thus relieving tension in your body HOPE THIS HELPS ITS LOGICAL
