In reading many post on here, there is such a desperation, so much obsession with how, when and why we stutter and a constant desperate search for answers.

Stuttering is an awful thing in my view, but I think most us make it much worse instead of better, by constantly pursuing some way not to stutter. In the last couple months I have read at least 3 stutterers suggesting they just wish their lives would end.

My belief is we just need to let go of the constant struggle against our stuttering. Find ways to be happy and productive inspite of our stutter, instead of having the attitude that we cant be happy and productive unless we find a way not to stutter.

About 16 years ago I did just that. After 35 years of going to so many therapists I cant remember them all, I decided to swear off all therapy and accept that I am a person who will stutter the rest of my life. Since that time I went from a severe stutterer with many secondary symptoms, to a mild to moderate stutterer.

You can be happy and productive even if you stutter, just let go of the struggle.
