The last week I found on the net the Stuttering Foundation Website. I was glad there was something like that on the net. I looked all over the website and I found famous people that stutter. It was cool to know that there are famous people out there that stutter. I never knew there was. I thought I was the only one with the problem.

Driving home from work today I was listening to ESPN radio. Guess who was on doing an interview. Bill Walton. If you don't know who he is, Walton was one of the best centers in the League in the late 70's and 80's, is in the Basketball Hall of Fame and now is a sports commentator.

I was listening to the interview and noticed that he stuttered some but not much. (Basically the same way I do). I think the only reason I picked up on it was, that within the last week I found the Stuttering Foundation site and he was one of the Famous people on the site that stutter.

I have followed basketball all my life and have seen Bill Walton do many sports commentaries and interviews. I never knew he stuttered.

To me this is awesome to hear first hand. I think this will be a positive step in me opening up to others that I stutter.

If I can accept that I a stutter, I think this will help me.

If Bill Walton can be a sports commentary and do interviews, just image what I/we can do.

I've always tried to hide from speaking, but this is a man that lives in a speaking arena.

Sorry for ranting so much, but I thought this was awesome.

I'll often notice people stuttering when fluent speakers don't notice it at all. It's funny, because I'll tell everybody that, for example, the actor on TV is stuttering and it will take fluent speakers longer to catch on to his methods of avoiding the stutter. If I hadn't notified them, they would have never noticed. I've just learned this from exposure. I'm sure a lot of you have too.

I think i'm just glad to know, that I'm not the only one out there that stutters. I have never really noticied it before. About 3 weeks ago I noticed a guy at work, that stuttered.

It made me fell a lot better about myself. Nowing I'm not the only one. That same week I was at a party and another guy was stuttering. He really stayed to himself though at the party and dind't talk much.

How would u feel if another stuttering came up to you and asked your about it in public? Or wanted to talk about it?

I agree with AGOFCR. When I first started to drive my wife's 77 Ford Maverick, I begun to notice, there are a lot of Ford Mavericks around. I have met a lot of other people that stutter, it makes me think the stats are wrong. I myself, I'm a big hockey fan, and I know Dave Taylor had a severe stutter, but you don't notice it today.
