Hi everyone,
I've made improvements with my stuttering but I'm still not happy with how i'm doing. I wanted to get involved in the pagaclone study but I can't because you had to start stuttering before the age of 8.

I find that whenever I stuter I think about it so much and worry about how stupid i feel. I also think that if I had something to not make me nervous it would possibly make me stutter less in some situations.

If I go to the doctor and ask him to start a medications for stuttering would he know what to do. I would guess he doesnt have much experience with this. Also, if i happen to not stutter when i'm there will he think that i'm lying?

Thanks for any advice
sorry if i didnt make any sense, i'm just nervous to go because i'm afraid he won't know what to do.

I have been to the doctor for a stuttering medication .I did not stutter once and I felt the doctor thought i was a junkie. As i tried to explain to him . I dont come here unless i have a problem as my past history indicated.I have better things to do with my time.I have found a doctor who is willing to try different things for me .I have tried AROPAX ssri which made me very depressed almost suicidal.EFFEXOR snri which was good ,but no life.INDERAL which helped me taking deeper breathes.AURORIX maoi which is good minimal side effects These are all different classes of anti depressants/social anxiety treatments.None of these drugs had any effect better or worse on my stuttering

I took Clonidine back when I was in 10th grade-- and stuttering turned hellish, and the same thing happened when I went off Clonidine, and started on Anafranil---Anafranil made the stuttering more hellish than it was on Clonidine!!

Thanks for the advice everyone!I don't know what i'm going to do yet. Oh and ben you can still get in the pagaclone study. Go here http://www.indevus.com/product/pagaclone.asp?page=pagaclone.
I'm personally thinking about lying to get in (you had to have started stuttering before age 8).
