I am new to the forums and would like to introduce myself.

My name is Zidane, I am 30 years old and live in London

I have had a stammer since a very young age, my first personal memory being at the age of 4/5 in Primary School on the first day, the dreaded register

I would classify my stammer as severely mild, in the sense that I have a severe stammer but through avoidance techniques in life its generally been seen to many as very mild. However in recent years, its getting worse, where I struggle to even string together a few words without a severe block.

Its now a massive hindrance on my life, and future career prospects (not that it wasn't a problem before) but being 30 now, having a position of responsibility at work, and very scared about the future.

I really dont see a way out!

This may sound shallow but i've never had a girlfriend. The only girl i've been with is someone I met on a stammering course and we had a bit of a 'thing' for a few weeks. That was a few years ago!

I think i'm pretty messed up psychologically, and even if my stammer were to miraculously dissapear, although it would massively change my day to day life, i'd still be messed up.

I've been on many speech courses when I was younger, but since I was around 15/16 i've only been on one course in 2005 which didnt help me but seemed to help alot of other people. I recently tried the speecheasy device, had it for a couple of weeks on trial but didn't really see it working.

Welcome to the forum Zidane. Sorry to hear you are going through a tough time at the moment with stuttering. I can relate to dating being difficult with a stutter. Dates are probably the things where stuttering effects me the most.
