Hello all, my name's Vitor, I'm 39 yo, and I'm from Brazil.

According to a diary from my mom's I read, I've been stuttering since I was 3 or 4.

I have difficulty talking to people I don't know. In the beginning of conversations I get pretty nervous and stutter a lot.

With my family and co-workers I almost don't stutter.

Curious is, in my job I have to speak on a microphone, and my voice is broadcasted to a public building full of people. I call people for the hearings in a Justice Court. I stutter a little in these occasions, then I try and speak very calm and slowly.

I avoid to use the telephone. It's very hard for me. I only phone my wife and my son. Even the deliveries I have to ask my wife to call, for example, a pizza or medication.

That's it for now. Best regards to you all.

Welcome to the group Vitor. I'm not too keen on using the phone either. Although both answering the phone and making a call can be difficult I generally find that answering it is easier as you don't have to say your name or explain why you are calling.

I know what you mean my friend,I'm real bad at introducing myself, that is my kryptonite. Once I meet you I'm probably fine just saying my name.
