anyone turn agnostic/atheist because of stuttering?

I think I did.

I remember as a young kid, I would pray everynight to make my stuttering go away. Every birthday wish I had was to stop stuttering. Hell, I even remember one day I went searching in my backyard for a four-leaf clover, to grant me a wish to stop stuttering.

As you can see, I had a lot of faith as a young child. But as I grew older, it kind of melted away, because my wishes were never met.

i too believed in God and prayed only for one thing all these years to speak fluently.even though my wish was never fulfilled i still have faith for unknown reason, may be because today i realize there are even bigger problems in world than st ammering.

All my life I got birthday presents and christmas presents of things I asked for..but the ultimate gift I have always wanted but have not got-up to now is the gift of fluent speech!!!

That was the only gift I ever wanted ever!! I would be able to live without all the toys I got for past Christmases if I had my stutter reduced enought to be satisfactorily understood!!

That's worth more than being a billionaire or a celebrity to me- free-flowing speech!!

I don't feel sorry for myself. I used to. My failures caused from my stutterings just motivate me to find that ultimate treatment!!

Each day is a day for a new oppurtunity to find true treatment!!!

What does agnostic/atheist mean??? Sorry if that sounds like a weird stupid question, but I never heard of those two words before!!

Being atheist means that you deny the existens of any god, higher spirit etc.

being agnostic means that you belive that nobody knows if god/gods exist or not. nobody can answer "the eternal questions"; why we live, what happends when we die etc. this dosn't necesserily means that you deny any theory though.

I'm agnostic.

I'd like to think stuttering didn't play a role in it. But religion in general isn't a big part of my life. it's really difficult to fathom how I would be without my stutter, but to the best of my knowledge i'd still be an agnost.

Even though I am not a churchgoer, I believe in god and have never thought that it is the cause of my stutter.
I have never given any thought as to why I have a stutter as it would be a waste of time, I try and enjoy life as much as I can.

My parents have combined Christianty and Native spirituality and I am a believer. My faith in God is stronger as I get older. I too prayed for fluent speech and I had it for one summer, but it didn't change me. I'm very much like Elliott, Nick and Steve, pro-active and enjoying ever waking moments. Watching Jessica Biel in the Texas Chain saw massacer in that tight white t-shirt and cowboy hat. I can wait for her latest movies, the Illisiounist, next month. When I am feeling pretty low, I pray for strength and wisdom to make the right choices. I like to think my stutter has brough me closer to God and I don't blame anybody for anything not going right in my life. I accept responsiblility for my actions or non-actions. A path is in front of me and my decisions are my own, right or wrong and so far, I am always right.

I have this thought in my head that I read somewhere, 'It is better believing in God and finding out in the end, there is none, then going through life believeing there is no God and find out in the end, there is one'. Someone else wrote, if Heaven is so wonderful, why aren't we killing ourselves to get there. I don't have any answers for anybody and my thoughts are. In heaven, are there people and do they still have . Remember, Adam and Eve were until they ate that apple and they said OMG, we are . So on that though, I better go and find the wife.

I'm not a big fan of any organized religion. Which is why I do not and will not go to church/ give money to church (unless the give back to the in a positive way so I know its not wasted). I'm not an atheist or an agnostic, but more of a deist. I occasionaly believe in answered prayer but I have never asked and will never ask god to give me fluent speech, but rather the power to deal with stuttering and that is something God has given me through the works of other people.

My concept of God and how is works is probably much different from any religion, but I believe mine is the most logical.

I am a Bible believing, Evangelical, JESUS CHRIST is LORD, Born Again Christian. Every day my faith and love for my LORD and my GOD grows stronger. I long for the day when HE returns to take me home. I have stuttered since I was a child, and I would wish I would wake up one day and it would be gone. I was saved in June of 1982 when I was stationed in Torrejon, Spain, I was 18 years old, I'm now 42. By all means I'm not religious, I'm am totally against religion. Being religious by definition is following a strict code of do's and don'ts. If I do this GOD will love me more, If I don't do this GOD will love me more. I have a daily, loving relationship with the MAKER of heaven and earth and all that is within them.

We can do nothing to earn GOD's love, the bible say's CHRIST died for us while we were still sinners. GOD LOVED us at our worst. HE sent his SON to take our place, to die for us. It's been my experience that GOD is a compassionate, merciful, and loving GOD. But, he is HOLY and JUST, HE will judge sin. The bible states the wages of sin is death, every soul that sins will die. GOD the FATHER, placed our sins on GOD the SON. CHRIST paid the penalty for sin, death.

The bible states that salvation is a gift from GOD, all we have to do is reach out and ask the LORD to forgive us for our sins. The bible says everyone who calls on the name of the LORD SHALL be saved. All we have to do is ask and believe (TRUST) that GOD will do what HE says HE will do. It takes more than just believing, Satan believes in GOD, is he going to heaven? According to the bible the answer is a resounding NO!

I know my life is in the HANDS of our loving CREATOR, HE sits on the throne, the bible teaches, nothing can happen to me unless GOD gives the approval. GOD only has my best interest at heart. The bible say's, ALL things work together for the good of those who love GOD and are called according to HIS purpose. I know in the end I will stand in the presence of my GOD.

The bible say's, "Eye has not seen nor ear has heard, nor has entered into the heart of man what GOD has prepared for those who love HIM".

I challenge all of you, pick up the bible and read it, The bible says GOD will make HIS presence known to those who dilligently seek HIM. The bible says GOD used the foolish things of the earth to counfound the wise. I'm praying that all of you will fall upon the ROCK (JESUS CHRIST) and be broken, instead of the ROCK falling on you and crush you.

May the FATHER of my LORD JESUS CHRIST cause HIS face to shine upon you, may HE keep you, may HE bless you.

IM A MUSLIM and honestly it helps me not to eliminate my stuttering but to eliminate my rage ,pain and frustration.And act just like no stutter people.there is something i want to add,that sometimes whene i read the QURAN I DONT STUTTER AT ALL..not like other materials..and this pushes me move forward and work hard and im sure GOD will help me.
