Big difference between the two. If you do stuttering then it is a behaviour which you could, possibly, change: if you are a stutterer, like you are a male or female, then it is an identity issue and is harder to change - we tend to think!
But we don't have to change ALL of our identity. We can put on a different costume and we are still us or we can drink too much and we are still us - tho' possibly not an us that we would like if we saw ourselves. If we take on a new religion we change but it is still us who take it on and the identity only changes a little.
If we change an accent what does that do to stammering for some people - still same people just a change in behaviour of speaking. Acting can do the same thing. If it does it for you then you 'Do stammering'
Our identity is the values we identify with.
