In the program Im studiying, one course consists of talking to a tape, record and replay...

First, you talk alone, just you and the tape.
But the teacher can interrupot and ask yo to repeat!

At first, when Im alone, I dont stutter... Try to close my eyes and focus on the voice.
But when the teacher asks me to repeat, I choke!

Very embarrassing... Been a stutterer for 8 years, and it aint getting easier.

Mean, how am i to get through this course if i cant speak fluently on a bloody TAPE? Not to mention the future oral presentations,,,,

Have any of you any tecniques, not breath/relax, exercises.. to apply? I tried closing my eyes, worked so so... Still stuttered when asked to repeat.

When she/he asks you to repeat it, still close your eyes and focus on the words. Whenever you do the exercise tell yourself you will HAVE to repeat it so your mind/body is prepared it is coming.

So, class nr 2 today - worst ever :/

I went on reading and responding to the tape-voice... Stuttered at some words, but not severely.

Then, my teacher entered and asked me to read a bit (of what I just read with no problems!) - I comletely choked, laughed and topld her I stutter every day, and in particular this day. She told me I was nervous, but as speaking,
---
I told her about my stuttering and how it comes and goes, about 200 words NO STUTTER!

So, I took a breath, and still choked. She told me she'd return to me later... Defeat.... :(

Let me say this exercise is in spanish also...
And this course, pronounciation on tape, is the only way to get a grade. It'll (stuttering) will affect my grade, cause it does not make me justice, stops my knowledge! Grrr...

Weell, at least she knows my condition, and the rest of the class who overheard me.

I haven't been feeling this low in years... This vocal course will be a total of 23active speaking hours.... In front of class.. But thats surprisingly not he worst fear. It gains confidence geeting uop there...

The fear is like this activity I had todaY, READING, when the other person sees the text as well... Gah,., dont know what to do.

From the way it sounds your teacher is very inconsiderate and lacks understanding maybe you need to go over her head to someone who is her boss and explain to them what is happening so that you can stop feeling defeat because of her lack of support and understanding. Especially if you told her you stuttered and she still reacted that way.

I heard this advice, think of her and that will give you happy thoughts or scared the Devil out of your stutter. Put an determined face on and remember you are doing to for your career, not anybody's elses.

or better yet just picture yourself standing infront of everyone only in your underwear!

Now those two things make about 70% of what stuttering is about; not easy to manage just like that.

It's not really the stress, but more the anxiety and anticipation - the feeling that you just feel, that youäll hook up on this sentence... And the more you get nearer to it, the anxiety increases.

So by not anticipating, or expecting a stutter-moment, things might turn out well.

It is a project, hopefully not through the rest of my life.

better yet when they get on your case just say try being in my position and see what its like having to deal with a stutter. I myself don't stutter but I have a very good friend who has shown me what it is like to be one through their eyes and I totally accept when they have a problem

Like I said, if that don't work, it would scare the devil out of your stutter.

On a serious note, what works for me is be determined, most people tend to respect you and not stand in your way of getting your point across. I got a rep for being the serious type, straight to business. It was hard a first, getting over the squeeky nervous voice, to a confident one but in the end it has worked for me.
