Gradually, I felt a speaking phobia is being built up in me. Now before anything I do, I think about potential speaking situations in it and how will I handle them !!! It is turning into an addiction, but I know i have reasons for that. Everytime I am not sure of people's perceptions of my speech, so I speak and look around in their eyes to detect any thing they might be signaling.

I remember maybe 2 or 3 years ago It wasn't that serious, but now it is really nagging me everytime I do anything.

Does anybody feel like that? Or maybe I am exaggerating and I need some confidence ??

Power of three, you are right. But the thing is, we always aspire for leaving a good impression to the people we speak to. This is not always possible with stuttering. Some people will tell you it is about the content of your speech not your way of speaking, but no of course your way of speaking is so important at least to make the listener comfortable.

Another way to put it is, it is not what you say ,it's how you say it..what good is something one says if it is said in a very misunderstanding way that cannot be understood!!

Way of speaking and content of speech goes hand in hand..the content has to be clear for the message to get across!!

somedays are really bad in terms of your speech. At present i am having lot of trouble with my speech.i stutter before i speak i,e the feel comes first followed by speech. Its true that there is constant worry, fear about the speech.i feel i would be absolutely fluent if i do not have these negetive emotions about speech.

We all go through bad patches in our speech and are less fluent than we are normally. I have found that after a while my bad patch and negative thoughts go and I return to some sort of normality.

I am currently going through a bad patch again and am having negative thoughts, but I know that I will stutter on words starting with certain letters and its a passing phase.

As Steve says, things will turn around and we shouldnt be so hard on ourselves.

There are a lot of people behind you big guy, hang in there. We understand, I have periods during the day, where I go through bad patches and negative thoughts.

And Is this a correct behaviour regarding dealing with stuttering?? Sometimes I do that too, but I feel it is ridiculous. It makes me unable to live life like normal fluent people coz i always forsee talking situtations before everything I do.
