I'm also underweight. around 6 foot 140 pounds. This doesnt suprise me. I'd bet a large quantity of stutterers are.

Anxiety/Stress produces cortisol. If cortisol remains in the system to long it causes the breaking down of tissue. I bet those of us who are leaner can eat as much as they want without picking up any weight...

Other factors can cause you to loose weight too.
If your internal flora, thats the bacteria in your belly, is out of control, your body wont beable to spend time maintaining it self.

An easy way to check if you have candida (bad flora out of control), check your tonque when you wake up. If you have a white layer on it, you have the problem.

I started a thread on this actually. Stuttering and Candida. Check it out.

Same here....i'm 5' 10, maybe 5' 11, and right now I weigh around 135 - 140 lbs. Everyone always says i'm just a little too skinny. I was actually a little lighter before the summer....too much of the fatty ice cream :) but summer's almost over anyways so I definetely won't be eating any for a long while.

I'm considerably overweight (5'8", 190-198lbs). I find that when I lose weight, i have slight improvements.

I think when you lose weight (if you are overweight), it will increase your self-esteem and self-confidence, which decreases stuttering.

Me? I'm 5"7, 120 pounds. I consider myself underweight, and is considering bodybuilding soon.

Hi guys, thanks for the responses.
I'm underweight. By about 10-15Kg
I've done tons of research into the human body. Nervous disorders. Chemical Messengers. Neuro Transmitters etc...
I've researched drugs that induce stuttering, Serotonin Reuptake inhibitors and the like.

My personal opionin right now is that if i can induce a patient to stammer by giving him or her large doses of Melotonin or Serotonin then I need to find if i have symptoms of too much or little Serotonin or Dopamine. If i do, then i need to ask myself why i have an imbalance. What is the reason?
Once I find a possible reason, I need to take steps to reduce and eliminate the cause of the problem. During this time I monitor my speech and my mood. If I notice any positive changes, I note them and continue on with the self-treatment. If I run into a wall and find no benefit I move on and try something else, and thus investigate another possible cause.

I firmly believe there are many ways to treat stammering. Mentally, physically or spiritually. What works for me might not work with you. Thats why its important for you to just have a strategy that you keep working on. Everyday you spend some time thinking about how you can improve on it and your stammering.

All the best,
