Did anyone of you in the UK have a chance to see the tv show on this lady getting fitted in the USA with the Speech Easy device?
That seems interesting. I am trying to see the video on the bbc site but it does not seem to be possible to download it from Belgium.
Could one of you gentlemen brittons try and download it and post it in a more accessible place (like for instance where the "help me to speak" sending was posted)?

I couldn't play the video or the radio interview but I think I would be the same way. Some people have a hard time shutting me up, but if I was fluent, it too would be impossible. Thanks for sharing. I hope that time whe she doesn't need it, comes real quick.

Well, I could not play either of the links. It looks like the proxy of my computer (I only have connection at work...) would not let me access to rm files.
Would someone be nice enough to record them and transform the files into mp3, and then possibly either upload them on a file sharing site or email them to me?

I have the same problem, so I just read her Bloq and the few comments. She is working on her speech, so she doesn't need this device later in life. All the power to her.

that’s seems like a good idea I hope that will cure stuttering problems if introduced

Do you not worry it would be possible to become psychologically dependent ona a device such as a speech easy?
I would be afraid that I would lose the belief in myself that I could talk unaided.

Does't the Speecheasy wear off and lose it's effect over time?? And as for me, I would much rather be dependent on a device for the rest of my life to help me communicate instead of struggling along frusteratingly..!!! I would feel far more at ease knowing a hearing aid aparatus would be able to help me speak easier, than not having one and not being understood...

Watched it 3 days ago and was very impressed. She showed a great improvement, and sounded way more clearer with that Speecheasy in..good luck to her!!

I finally coud listen to it a few days ago too (only the radio interview though), and I was very disappointed on the opposite.
Do you really think that she shows improvement? I really do not. It may be a little bit clearer, but not more. That came as quite a shock to me because I expected much from this type of new treatments, all the more I as stutter just as much as she does.

You may have a point..I noticed that she sounded a little slower with more pauses, but the amount of stuttering realy did not go down that much!!! Maybe a little bit, but it was not the results I would be expecting from a Speecheasy..
But I'm not sure if speaking slower and more pauses will decrease stuttering!!
Had I been in her place with those sort of results, I would say, "this is not giving me the benefits I was hoping for, so I'm not getting it!"
Does that mean she should stop looking for treatments?? Absolutley not!! There are many aids out there and Speecheasy is NOT for everyone!!!
Maybe to her she felt better, but to me she just sounded like she was pausing more...
Maybe she saw it as a psychological crutch..like when a person takes a medicine for a treatment they instantly feel good without it even having an effect!!!
I belive that's called the Placebo Effect!! So she may have had a Placebo Effect thinking, "I have the SE, and with it in, I feel on Cloud 9", but it's not the SE that's making her feel great, it's the thought she finaly has it wheather it helps or not!!!!
Same thing with me.. I tried the Fluency Master years ago and the docter who prescribed it to me said it was not for me because it was not working as it should of been...I felt great on cloud 9 even though my stuttering was not realy changed with it in...
But yet I had to have it because I was fooling myself into thinking it was working!!!
The best thing which I should have done but did not do was work with it for the trial period to try to get benefits out of it...and then return it if it showed no benefits which it did not...
But instead of returning it because it had no benefit at the end of the trial period, I chose to keep it as a psychological crutch!!!!

I think maybe her speech still seems bad because of the stress of the situation.
Not only is she on the radio, but also, she's demonstrating a so-called 'miracle device' and a 'cure for stuttering'. If that was me, I would be feeling pressure to speak fluently - and the more I stuttered the more stressed I would get.
