Hi,

I have some experience of the UK benefits system (I did my social work training and work closely with benefits agency in my current role as nurse). I'd be very surprised if you would qualify for a benefit but it may be worth loking into making a DLA (Disability Living Allowance) cl, ing to get lower rate mobility/care component.

I guess the best bet is to contact your local welfare rights adviser or the CAB and go from there.

Good luck,

Rob

OK, here is my opinion.

I dont see my stutter as a disability. a pain in the backside maybe but not serious enough to cl benefit.
What are the reasons for wanting to cl disability benefit.

That government must think it is important enough to have and there are a lot of people out there, who may need the assistance, even if it gives them a step up. You and I and other people don't see the need for it, but don't forget we are not everybody.

i heard something about this ages ago, i wondered whats going on... But if it is true theres no shame in my mind in doing it.. If its running for us, why not use it? If a satammer is classed as a disabitiy then to just ingnore it is a bit arogant in my mind..

I agree i cant see what cl benifit would actually do, but tehn again the stammer courses aint chreap - maybe oput it towards a course or program etc.... I rememebr as a child my parents took me on a course in london which cost them £2000 - now im sorry but they found it very hard to afford that and surely a benifit system would help people like them to afford better treatement etc... And these courses are very important in a chiuilds life in my opinion as they get to talk and mix with other stammeras which in turn helps them to gain confidence and realise they are not alone - invaluable experience in my mind..

Id like to know where we all stand on this? in terms what what they are offering support for exactly etc...

(and you never know we may get a free disabled parking badge - ok that was a joke lol, but figured i didnt wanna get too serious at 10:11am :) )
