Hi
I am Tanveer, 28 yrs old guy from UK. I work as a software engineer. I like travelling, music, movies, swimming, surfing internet, making websites and meeting new people. and yes, I stutter.
Originally I am from India. I been working in different places in India, sometime in US and now in UK. Its always hard in the begining in a new place, talking to new people leaving your familiar surroundings. But somehow after years of going places I am not beginning to feel afraid of new surroundings.
But still i do have problems sometimes in buying a ticket, ordering a food with a queue behind me, facing interviews.
But ofcourse that did not prevent me from travelling(that means booking hotels, buying tickets, asking directions), seeing places, changing jobs(I know I have to give 10 interviews to get thru one..LOL, but i never give up).
There r times when i do feel low...things r not going as expected sometimes..But then there r times when I know I have done better than many people. but then that's how life is, is it not? stuttering or stuttering..life has its failure and success.

BTW, if anyone wants to get to know me more, you can visit my homepage : http://tanveer.freeservers.com

I am trying to create a online blog (diary) kind of thing where poeple like us can write down their feelings..like a diary...others like us can read them, share experiences, learn from others, draw inspiration etc. The difference of a online diary is that people can write as if writing a diary putting one's feeling.
Check this diary at : http://travellersdiary.blogspot.com .

It is in the initial stage so its me only who have written some of my thoughts. I would appreciate if others join in too. You can mail me at tanveerrameez@yahoo.com and request to join the blog. I can put you into the group.

Is there anyone here who went to the BSA (British Stammering Association) conference in Scotland this year (Sept 2004). I been there and hope to find some people here who came there.

Hello.

I did not go to the BSA Conference this year and have never been to one but I am interested to know more about it as I am considering going next year.

Was it good? If so, what did you enjoy about it and what did you get involved in?

Thanks,
Riverman.

hi
yeah, I did enjoy the conference very much. It was my first conference and i am looking forward to the conference next year.
Well, why did i enjoy it?
1. I met others like me. It gave me the feeling that I am not the only one. I met poeple who r succesful in life, happy in life despite the problems we all face.
2. I could share my experiences, say about my fears (which is not easy admitting in the outside world), learn from what others has to say..specially the workshop we had. It is one place where it is 'okay' to stammer(Infact if u don't stammer u don't belong there..LOL).
3. It was a fun way of meeting people, networking and making friends. We danced, joked, sang and a bond was formed. I have made some good friends from that conference.
4. I am motived to get more involved on the organisation. Recently I did go to the Hull Open day meet where the London group went to Hull to have a get-together with the Hull group. My preoccupations in my job is preventing me from getting more involved now, but I hope to do so in near future.
Hope to meet u up in the next year conference. BTW, take a look at the BSA website (http://www.stammering.org) to check out the different events taking place at regular intervals.
regards
Tanveer
