Lightbulb Something to think about: stutterers being regarded with admiration

Could it be possible that some people regard us with admiration...? I'm still pretty young, and I might sound ignorant by saying it with such doubt. It's just that, I've never experienced any great reaction of admiration from a listener--at least, not one that I could outwardly detect.

Have any of you ever experienced such a phenomenon? Have you ever had someone express (at any stage in a relationship, prompted or unprompted) that they admire your efforts for dealing with stuttering? The fact that talking, something that the average person essentially does without thinking about it, with zero effort, can come as a great struggle to you on a daily basis?

For me, to recieve such a comment would be borderline euphoric; to think that someone would regard us this way is just awesome. xD

Hi,

Yes my wife admires my efforts and most my close family members.

The secret is that you yourself should be proud of your efforts first!

You should project the picture that I am so strong that I have this issue, I don't deny it and I do whatever I can to resolve it. I don't let it stop my life progress. I fight and will never give up.

In this way, others will have no choice but to admire you.

One thing that I persistently do with discipline is practice reading a book every single morning with a loud voice for 10-20 minutes; in this way my voice box muscles get stronger which helps me speak easier.

Thanks for the response, man. From London, I see. That's cool. xD

You seem to have an excellent attitude about your speech; I very much admire that. I, too, have been trying to stick to a practice regimen which consists of repetitive practice as well as making phone calls. Making a written schedule would help me, now that I think about it. Maybe I'll go do that . . . .
