Smile The technique that cured my stuttering:

www.ipiinc.info

My only motive is in sharing the technique. It's hard enough to go through this life with fluent speech. Stuttering is a whole different ballgame. With that said, I can't say it didn't make me a better(more compassionate) person. I'm not guaranteeing anything, but it's helped cure me, and every other lifelong stutterer that I've shared it with thus far.

I have just read through this and it seems quite interesting but how do you go about relaxing your palate?

Default Re: Relaxing your palette

IMO, the secret comes in anticipating the stutter. Many stutterers have indicated to me that their jaws or palate clench tight while they are stuttering, as they are fighting to breathe, speak fluently, and express themselves. By consciously mimicking these subconscious behaviours(i.e. clenching of teeth, the jaws, or the palate, the stutterer can take control of this formerly subconscious habit. It may manifest itself in different ways in different people. I'm still learning about it. I'd love to know how other people experience their stutter. A person has to become a student of their own stutter IMO. Personally, I noticed that I would began clenching my jaw, and or palate just moments before I was going to speak.... I began to beat myself to the punch by consciously tightening my own jaw, teeth, or palate. This erased my fear of a block. I realized that my fear of a block was caused by the buildup of tension in my mouth. Once I controlled it, I could breathe, and thus speak without the fear of irritating subconscious behaviours taking over my mouth.

To observe how stuttering manifests for you, you only have to imagine yourself speaking in your MOST stuttering prone position. Pay attention to yourself. Where are you experiencing stress or tension? Speaking is an effortless endeavor. If stuttering was a walking disease, you'd see a man fall every few feet because his knee subconsciously buckled beneath him. That man would need to take control of that wayward knee in order to escape his malady... in my humble opinion. He may tell that knee BUCKLE NOW!.. in order to become the master of his knee.

I can't even tell which muscles I tense or clench.
It all happens in my head before it gets to the muscles. All my energy gets focused on overcoming the block so I'm not even aware of what's going on around me. All I know is I get dizzy. It feels hot also.
