Default Hello I am Vorian and I am going to cure my stuttering

Hello

I have been stuttering since I was 6, and it caused me so much difficulty through my life that it hurts even to think about it. What's worse is the opportunities that I missed because of it. I can endure bad things but I can not endure the lack of good things. This is why I would give anything to stop this damn disorder, because without communication you can't do anything in this world.

But sadly the so called "professionals" don't know a damn thing about stuttering. They still think that it's a "speech impediment"; that some chemicals in the brain cause it; that it's because of the vocal cords; that it's because you are shy/don't have enough confidence; that a badly learned speaking technique causes it... ...I could go on and on. No. It is hundred percent psychiological, it is all in the mind.

Since most people label it "incurable", and even the optimists say that this problem can only be solved in years (and that's if I am lucky), I have to rely on myself. Since there is no working training program out there, I have to make one myself. And I have to do it, complete it, no matter what it takes, because I have no other choice if I want to live a real, happy life.

And I am very close to the solution now, I have spent hours on the Internet researching fears, phobias, classical conditioing, hypnosis, NLP, EFT, anchoring, how the subconscious works, and all possible things related to stuttering. I will use this knowledge to end stuttering, and I will succeed. I am hundred percent sure of that.

Stay tuned

Welcome to the forums vorian, I also believe that stuttering can be cured.
I have great hope and I have a great feeling that we can overcome it.
I hope that you will be able to overcome it.

My plan to overcome it is - first, Jesus. Then to eliminate my fear-social fear, etc. And then develop a technique to speak- such as singing lightly, I notice that when i sing i don't stutter.

Vorian, do you realize that there are 2 and 3 year olds who stutter. Are they just not confident or psycologically not right?...........

Well, sorry to burst your bubble but I don't think Jesus will help you There are people with far, far worse conditions than us, and even they don't get help from Him.

About the two other points, you are right. There are two main things that need to be done:
1. reducing the fear/pain/discomfort that comes with stuttering
2. "learning" to speak

Vorian, I like your spirit and positive energy. I may not quite agree with you on the cause of stuttering, but your determination may get you where you want to be. If you could put all that energy and determination into learning and actually applying fluency techniques (which do require lots of determination and patience and hard work), you could go very far and achieve your goals. Good luck!

They are having the "traumatic stuttering" that normally only lasts a few weeks or months and isn't uncommon among young children. But this traumatic stuttering can morph into "real stuttering" if someone - parent, teacher, other kids - point out that they stutter and they start to fear stuttering. Fear of stuttering --> highway to real, severe stuttering.
