Default The Congrats Thread

Well I figured that this place needed a little board we can we celebrate and congratulate ourselves and each other on our achievements in the realm of stuttering. No matter how small or insignificant you may find your achievement, I think that we should most definitely be here to celebrate our good times in our day to day speaking activities.

So I am going to start the ball rolling

Last week I decided to order a Veggie Burger. I am always scared of making that order so normally never do so - which s because I usually end up just ordering chips :/ I stumble and usually slur on 'veggie' (which also s because I am a vegetarian xD) so it's like 'vvvvvveggie'. However that time I said the whole order pretty well and didn't have any mishaps! Wow did it really give me so much confidence for the rest of the day! This small event has given me a glimmer of hope that maybe my ten minute oral presentation will not be so deathly frightening!

Well it's only a little story, but like I said, no matter how little it may be, may as well give yourself a break from all the horrible moments and give yourself a mental hug

Your quite right. We should be congratulating ourselves for our achievements. Well done with the order btw!!

I normally order chicken burgers, and get stuck on the 'CH' sometimes its smooth, sometimes the 'ch' gets on my nerves because i want a chicken burger!!!! woo! I have recently been seeing this girl. I really love her and she loves me. This love makes me sooo confident and comfortable around her, and she makes me smile all the time. Sadly we may not go into a relationship. thats a long story, but its kind of her fault. arg.

But still, i'm so proud of myself at how far i've come!!

Nothing is Impossible.

Here is something you can try for the "ch"--- pronounce it like an "sh". Like SHICKEN burgers! Now, of course it doesnt sound exactly "natural", but either does Ch - ch- ch- ch-chicken burger! know what I mean?? appraoch the "sh" very, very lightly. Believe me, the waiter WILL understand you and you WILL get your SHICKEN burger!!!----- Or You can stutter on the "ch". It is your choice. The imporatnat point is to eat what you want!!--- Good job on how far you have come!!! Keep it up!!! LONG LIVE THE CHICKEN BURGERS!!!

The other day I had to buy a new tyre for my car. I was a bit worried about going to the shop and asking for one and going through the process of getting them to fit it on for me. I did it though and I didn't really stutter at all so I was quite pleased. Only a small thing but thought this thread was a good place to share it.

That does sound like it would help. The funny thing is that there is an Indian dessert that we eat called Shicken! well your meant to pronounce it like 'SHIKEN' that just makes me laugh inside. I do understand what you mean though. saying the 'ch' part softly. i haven't had the chance to try it yet, but when i go to a Nando's i am sure to try it out

A month ago, i stopped taking speach-therapy, because my therapist had moved to another country, so i decided to stop therapy and try to overcome my stuttering on my own, and i'm doing really well, i'm so happy now, and i'm still trying to completely overcome my stutter by relaxing and breathing excercises, now i dont have this fear of talking and am doing really well.

too bad this thread isn't flooded with success.
