Unhappy Anyone have a better chance in life cursed?

I don't usually post much for I mostly find the answers on my own, but has anyone have a enjoyable life cursed as a stutterer? I have been at it but due to my stuttering, many other people has been treating me differently. I mean I have never been in a relationship because of that and at the age of 25, its like living a endless nightmare. Even your own family members will treat you differently at times such as learning to drive, I feel as if I do not belong in this world, but my stuttering has been changing much over the years and I have been stuck with it since I can remember...I also have co-workers that prefers me to do tasks that requires me to speak for their own amut. Being forever trapped with stuttering has made me a loner for about 2 decades and I'm wondering if anyone else has been on the same tormenting/depressing road that I am on so far...

Cool Re: Anyone have a better chance in life cursed?

I think its really a matter of how you view your life/experiences.

There are always going to be people out there who have it better then you. But you know what? there's also going to be a whole lot of people who have it much worse.

And yeah, stuttering s. I know that, you know that, everyone else on this forum knows that. But what can you do about it? Nothing. So why bother worrying. The only thing it will do is land you in a depressed cycle of "If i was 'normal' i could be president/famous/awesome." But really, how many 'normal' people do you know who have accomplished that? I really don't think the grass is that much greener on the other side :P

Everyone has their own limitations (often not visible). And there are so many people in the world who are so self-conscious/retarded that they put other people down for having an obvious flaw (i.e. your co-workers), to make them feel better about their own internal conflict. And seriously, stuttering is not your fault, just as being hearing impaired isn't someone's fault. Whereas, being a (i.e. the co-workers) is their fault. You simply have to live the best you can, with all the tools you have (e.g. intelligence, empathy, fairness, charm, body language, etc) and you are easily the bigger person in all of this.

So who's the screwed up one now?

Perhaps the reason why you appear to hate your life is not in fact the stuttering, but because of depression/anxiety/negativity related to that?
How do you know that people aren't treating you differently because of your attitude, and not so much your stutter?

And anyway, while all the words that you want to say might always be heard the wrong way, you can be sure as hell that you're communicating better then someone who is mute or deaf

So yeah, be the awesome person that your are
I just thought I should put that out there.

Default Re: Anyone have a better chance in life cursed?

Good point, but I suppose going back to ignoring them will be useful for the time being...
